On Wednesday, 23 September, the EMLex Steering Board welcomed the students of the 2026 intake, known as the Luca Serianni Cohort, during a consortium-wide online welcome session.
In attendance were the students of the new cohort, the Programme Coordinator, Prof. María José Domínguez, Dr. Christine Ganslmayer, both members of the EMLex Steering Board, Prof. Martina Nied, coordinator of the B1 module, and Luke Akinremi, Programme Manager.
The European Master in Lexicography (EMLex) is an international Master’s degree programme (120 ECTS) that has been offered since 2009. Since 2016, the EMJM-EMLex has been awarded as an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree.
FAU-EMLex is very proud that Punsisi Udara Liyanage, an EMLex graduate from the Sulkhan Saba Orbeliani cohort (intake 2024), has been awarded a PhD scholarship as part of the new international project MultiLAwa – Multilingual Language Awareness in the European Digital Society. Punsisi succeeded in a highly competitive selection process and was chosen as a PhD candidate to focus on “Stereotyped language related to gender, race and ethnicity in digital dictionaries and thesauri”.
I recommend EMLex because this master’s program allows you to plunge into the world of dictionaries in which you are accompanied by the most renowned international lexicographers. Furthermore, due to its international and interdisciplinary structure, you get in contact with people of so many diverse cultures.

Lola Mosquera Sanchez
2019-2021, student at Université de Lorraine (Nancy, France)
I recommend EMLex because the professors are really very dedicated and patient. In addition, I was able to test the knowledge acquired in Mexico, and my level of English and German improved thanks to the interaction with classmates and professors of different nationalities. I feel very fortunate to belong to such a close-knit community and to have friends in different parts of the world.
Laura
Igor Mel’čuk class (2017-2019)
I recommend EMLex because you can acquire a fundamental education, meet professional lecturers who do their best for every student, you can learn new fields and updates related to lexicography, and nowhere else but here you can become a professional lexicographer. I am very grateful to have the opportunity to be a member of this big family. After only two months of study, I can say that reality overcame expectations.
Ketevani Tevdoradze
